Todos os anos, na última quinta-feira do mês de novembro é celebrado o Dia de Ação de Graças, conhecido em inglês como “Thanksgiving Day”.Esta tradição é sobretudo celebrada nos Estados Unidos, no Canadá e nas ilhas do Caribe. Este ano foi no dia 23. Neste dia comemora-se um acontecimento verídico do século XVII que envolve a ajuda que os irlandeses receberam do povo local (índios) quando estavam a passar por situações difíceis como fome e dificuldade na produção de colheitas. Assim este dia é observado como um dia de gratidão a Deus, com orações e festas, pelos bons acontecimentos ocorridos durante o ano. De forma a comemorar este dia especial, na disciplina de inglês, a turma 9ºB e a professora Paula Morgado encenaram uma peça de teatro em inglês intitulada “Pilgrims in a Pickle” (Peregrinos em Apuros). A peça foi realizada no dia 22 de novembro e apresentada na Biblioteca da Escola João Afonso de Aveiro, em 3 sessões de 20 minutos, tendo a primeira começado às 14h30. No dia seguinte a peça depois de gravada foi transmitida pela televisão do polivalente da escola, durante todo o dia. Foram convidados membros da direção, professores e alunos de diversas turmas e todos eles manifestaram um parecer positivo. O teatro foi realizado pelos alunos com muito empenho e dedicação, a fim de uma atuação perto do perfeito. This year was on the 23rd November. This day commemorates a true event of the seventeenth century that involves the help that the Irish received from the local people (Indians) when they were going through difficult situations such as hunger and difficulty in producing crops. This day is observed as a day of gratitude to God, with prayers and feasts, for the good events that occurred during the year. In order to celebrate this special day, in the English class, 9ºB and the teacher Paula Morgado staged a play in English entitled “Pilgrims in a Pickle”. The play was performed on the 22nd in November and presented at the Library of the João Afonso School of Aveiro, in 3 sessions of 20 minutes and the first session began at 2:30 pm. In the following day, the play was broadcast through the television, in the assembly hall of the school. Board members, teachers and students from different classes were invite. All of them expressed a positive opinion. The theater was performed by the students with great commitment and dedication, in order to perform close to the perfection.
